Courtelevant Mill

Courtelevant Mill is situated on the banks of the Vendeline, dates back to the 17th century and is listed as a Historic Monument. Sold after the Revolution, a fire almost completely ravaged it in 1855. A new mill was then built and the old mill was turned into a house.A 5 meter in diameter waterwheel was installed and the most modern methods of the time were used to produce good quality flour.
The same family operated it for over a century before it was phased out in 1905, a victim of the introduction of larger and more efficient mills.
This 1855 mill remained untouched and the whole thing was kept in exceptional condition.
The ""Friends of the Courtelevant Mill"" association was created in 1988 with the goals of saving, restoring and activating the mill.
Thus, after extensive renovations, this mill, now known as the Museum of Grinding Techniques produces flour thanks to a team of enthusiasts.
