The Lac Blanc

The Lac Blanc is a lake at 1055 m altitude, in the Vosges Mountains. It is named after the crystal clear colour of the sand on the bottom of the lake. It occupied a glacial cirque composed by rocks and firs. The lake is dominated by a rock in the form of a fortress called „château Hans“. A legend tells that a cruel lord lived in the castle, which overlooked the rock and terrorized the population. Today the „château Hans“ is above all a beautiful point of view on the lake. A statue of Virgin Mary is perched on the Hans’s rock
