Pottery Streissel

What is special about the potter? He has entirely reconstructed a wood-fired kiln and is the only one today to fire part of his production in a traditional kiln. This firing takes place over 2 days. The kiln consumes 6 steres of fir wood to reach a temperature of 1100°. Beyond the nostalgia of the cooking methods of the past, the identical reconstruction of an old-fashioned wood-fired oven takes us back into the spirit of our ancestors. A spirit of conviviality, festivity and "bon vivre" around the firing of the pottery, the apotheosis of the last stage of production. In the shop, you will discover a wide variety of pottery, including the famous figures, the "Holzschuhmännele" (little clog figures) and the potter's great novelty: the calaveras! The shop is open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10am to 12pm and from 2pm to 6pm. No open house or guided tour possible.
