Sarrewerden was a fortified town which was home to the Counts of Sarrewerden in the 12th century. Wonderful views of the surrounding countryside can be had from the low hills surrounding the village. A circular walk has been created which takes about 45 minutes. Display boards and signposts along the route explain the rich historical past of the village. The trail starts at Sarrewerden mill. Also available is flat-bottomed boat trip from Sarrewerden to Sarre-Union. This is a delightful and relaxing way to experience at first hand the River Sarre's natural environment and history.
