Synagogue du Quai Kléber

Description

A square in front of the Place des Hallesshopping mall now lies where the formersynagogue of Quai Kléber used to stand.The synagogue was built in 1897 in the neo-Romanesque style. With its seating capacity of 1600, it could welcome the entire Jewish community at that time. In 1940, the building was burnt down by the Hitler Youth and dynamited in 1941. The alley of the righteous among the nations (Allée des Justes parmi les nations), inaugurated in 2012, bears witness to this past.
