Schlitte-museum and the wood crafts

Founded in 1973, the Museum focuses on logging operations. The displays include the tools of several craftsmen (tun maker, clogmaker, joiner and turner). The Munster valley is the birthplace of timber sledging and therefore the Museum pays tribute to our ancestors for their hard labor. In the forest, logs and firewood were loaded onto the timber sledge which, held back and guided by the logger, slid down the trail made of beech ties (sleepers). Then the carter took over and transported the precious lumber to the village sawmill. The history of the forest and of the valley has not been overlooked.
