The long uphill portion of this route is less laborious than it sounds, as it follows a small tarmac road alongside the Goutte St-Blaise stream. And what a pleasure it is to descend! Le Hury owes its name to coal mining, which was very important until the French Revolution. Initially known as a "houillerie", the name has since evolved to become "Hury".
