Mari, Syria Rebirth of a city in the 3rd millennium

This extraordinary exhibition reveals one of the most powerful capitals in the ancient Middle East, which disappeared for millennium until being rediscovered in 1933. Thanks to exceptional loans provided by major European museums, the 200 artefacts making up this exhibition (including major masterpieces from the Louvre) offer insight into this brilliant civilisation, its economic power and influence. 90 years after the rediscovery of Mari, the exhibition also provides an opportunity to place emphasis on a fabulous archaeological odyssey. Exhibition co-produced by the Royal Museum of Mariemont in Belgium, the Louvre Museum in Paris and the National and University Library of Strasbourg, in partnership with the French archaeological mission of Tell Hariri/Mari, the University of Liège and the University of Strasbourg.
