Commune de Dieffenbach-lès-Woerth

The village was first mentioned in 884AD. Deiffenbach was one of the possessions of the Landgraves of Werd (Former Woerth) who sold it to the Lichtenberg family in 1332. The village also has a history linked to the petro-chemical industry. In particular on the 5 September 1927 at well no 7 at Deiffenbach-lès-Woerth, the Schlumberger brothers suceeded in recording electrical resistance for oil well logging for the first time.
