Guided tour of the Gambsheim locks

Registration required at the Pays Rhénan Tourist Office. Registration closes at 4pm on the Wednesday before the visit. Please bring proof of identity with you on the day of the visit. This guided tour of the Gambsheim locks, led by a VNF agent, will give the opportunity to approach the central control station and the lock chamber of the Gambsheim locks, to talk about navigation on the Rhine and the technical equipment available for navigation. Commissioned in 1974, these are the largest locks on French inland waterways. A brochure presenting the Gambsheim locks is available at the Tourist Office. Minimum 6 participants, maximum 12, from 12 years old. Approximate duration of the visit: 1h30 Good physical condition, suitable clothing (good shoes, avoid shorts, skirts, dresses) No access for disabled persons or pushchairs. Animals are not allowed. No smoking on the site. Weather: visit maintained in adverse weather conditions, unless there is a prefectural warning. Insurance for the public: OTPR and civil liability.
