Sondersdorf great oak

Called big oak or Napoleon oak, this old tree, which is perhaps 400 or even 500 years old, was already identified as an unusual specimen by forestry workers in 1912.
Struck by lightning twice in 1988, a storm in 1999 and drought in 2003 led the forestry workers to maintain this remarkable sessile oak that was 25m high in the past but today measures no more than 12m.
