Fort Uhrich

Fort Werder (renamed Fort Uhrich after the First World War) was designed to withstand a siege. In wartime, it could accommodate up to 700 men in about 100 rooms. The fort is surrounded by a moat filled with water, which makes it unique among the belt of forts. The historic moat, which once encircled the building, has been rehabilitated to enhance its natural surroundings. The fort is not open to the public.
