Festival International de Colmar : Two sisters for a Slavic soul

" Das größte Festival für klassische Musik im Elsass. "

DUO NEMTANU "As talented and precocious as each other, Sarah and Deborah Nemtanu shine as a duo without giving up their personal careers, which they pursue at the same pace" Télérama When you realise that Jean-Marie Leclair started out as a dancer, you are no longer surprised by the eminently danceable nature of all his music. A violinist of genius, he paved the way for all the great virtuosos to come, and his influence extended far beyond the borders of France: Viotti took advantage of his legacy to produce his own masterpieces and create the technique of the modern violin... Nor is it surprising that, with their Central European origins, Sarah and Deborah Nemtanu are keen to introduce us to some of the most exciting pages by Armin Kaufmann, a composer from Bucovina and violin prodigy (he was a member of the Vienna Philharmonic), who, like Bartók before him, was keen to draw his inspiration from the folk music of his country. Klezmer music, always so moving, will give us a close-up view of the spiritual (and musical) life of the Jewish communities of Central Europe. PROGRAM Jean-Marie Leclair, Sonata No. 5 for 2 violins Giovanni Battista Viotti, Duo No. 3 for 2 violins Armin Kaufmann, Eight Duets Béla Bartók, Excerpts from 44 Duets Klezmer duets, arrangements by A. Igudesman
