Merxheim

Merxheim is located in the Alsatian plain close to the wine route and notably the towns of Guebwiller (6km) and Soultz (8km). The village is surrounded by major roads providing easy access to the main tourist sites such as Écomusée d’Alsace (Alsace Ecomuseum) (7km) and the town of Colmar for example (23km).
The village has a rich history that probably goes as far back as the Neolithic era as can be seen in the numerous archaeological discoveries of which a part is currently exhibited at the Musée Unterlinden at Colmar.
The bell-tower of the Eglise Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul dating back to the XIIth century is partially built in undressed stone and marked by an angle quoin exhibiting typical features from the Roman style.
