Lautenbach and its hamlet Schweighouse make up a mid-mountain village located in the Haut-Florival, close to the town of Guebwiller (6km) and the Alsatian wine route. The St Michel collegiate also places it on the Roman route. The Route des Crêtes (Cliff Road), very close, beckons to you to explore the Markstein summits in both winter and summer (15km, alt. 1240 m) and the Grand Ballon (30km, alt. 1,424 m). Nearby, take advantage of the numerous specialities of the inns nestled in the heart of the mountain and leave with delicious farm products (cold cuts, cured sausage, cheese, dairy products, syrups, liqueurs, honey and much more).
Lautenbach is renowned in particular for the autobiographical novel of the journalist Jean Egen (Le Canard Enchaîné, Le Monde) titled "Les tilleuls de Lautenbach". This local boy describes his village with enthusiasm as a prodigious creation.
Lautenbach is an important stop during your stay in the Florival in your search for local products and an authentic heritage.
