Hiking circuit - tour of the 2 lakes

You have probably already seen the black lake and the white lake, but have you done both on the same tour? Opt for this sporty hike to discover them together.

Climb towards the summit to enter the Tanet-Gazon du Faing nature reserve. The first climb will not leave you indifferent on arrival, as you will cross the hautes-chaumes for a few kilometres following the GR5 (red rectangle). The natural moorland on either side changes colour with the seasons, turning from a powerful green in summer to shades of ochre in autumn. Continue along the path on your left indicating the Black Lake. At the next intersection, you have the option of going back and forth to the source of the Lac Noir. We recommend this, as it is a cool little corner of paradise hidden among the conifers.

Back on the main trail, continue down towards the Lac Noir. The winding, rocky trail leads through a serene, fairy-tale-like environment. Then you arrive at the foot of the lake. Walk along it to reach the end, where all the unsuspected wonders are hidden.

Meet in a surprising setting where on one side high granite cliffs dominate you and on the other the lake stretches out peacefully. The steep path crosses the rocky waterfall which propels you into a remarkable change of scenery. Enjoy this section, which is one of the most wonderful on this small lake.

Walk up towards the Belmont Observatory (blue circle). You have to reach the highest point again, so it climbs for a while. At the top, enjoy the view over the valley from the observatory and reach the Lac Blanc a few minutes away. The trail leads over the rock face, giving you one of the best views of the lake and Hans Rock. Return to the trail (red circle) and continue along this viewpoint where you will stop again and again to capture this masterful work. Gradually return to your starting point.

To get the most out of this hike, we advise you to plan it over a day. This will allow you to stop in front of the magical viewpoints offered by this circuit and to tackle the sporting sections at your own pace without getting too tired.
