Come and discover the battlefield of the First World War! Situated at 1220 metres above sea level, the summit is a remarkable observatory.
"La tête des Faux" is a 1914-1918 Battlefield located at 1220 meters altitude. The summit, remarkable observatory, was conquered by the French December 2, 1914, and after many battles, including that of Christmas Eve 1914. The site presents a set of extraordinary works. The Germans have built on the eastern side, a real fortress with an underground barracks, which provides in a cable to supply the sector. Located in the center of the village of Lapoutroie, its slope is 500 meters over a distance of 4km. Upon arrival, a huge tunnel allows to continue the movement by rail underground to the top.
