Art is not only subject to constant movement, such as that of the commissioners on whom it often depends, but it also provokes change on its own. The exhibition presents a selection of works newly acquired by the FRAC Alsace between 2021 and 2023, focusing on the question of how art can bring about change, starting with a shift in the way we perceive and look at things, questioning our habits and tackling major societal issues such as post-colonialism and the destructive effects of human activity on the planet. The artists from four continents - Europe, Africa, South America and Oceania - brought together in this exhibition do not give us answers, but encourage us, through their own aesthetics and visual languages, to reflect on global and universal themes.
