Parc des ruines du Château

Around 1802, the future Baron of Empire Mathieu de Faviers bought an old feudal castle located on a foothill of the Vosges, below which he built a manor house. On the slope that separates the house Directoire and the fortress "gothic", Faviers had a "garden-painting" in line with models in vogue since the late eighteenth century. It was necessary to draw the future lawns, to plant the edges of the brook, to cut the forest to preserve the necessary access and views... The ruins of pink sandstone guide the perspectives, beyond the romantic itinerary of the wooded park, and this monumental "factory" is nowadays animated by the "Eagle Park".
