Museum of agricultural heritage

Initiated in 1999 by passionate volunteers from the Allenwiller socio-cultural association, a major operation to collect tools and agricultural machinery from the past quickly reached unhoped-for volumes. The material collected was stored outside and left to the weather.

From 2003 to 2005, the town of Allenwiller-Sommerau and the association pooled their efforts and skills to build a 1,200 m² hall specially designed to display this collection. After more than 10 years of collecting, work and hard work, the collection was finally presented to the public for the first time in August 2015.

It includes more than 600 items, from simple tools to combine harvesters, including all the machines that were once used in local mixed farming. Specific areas related to agriculture are located alongside this equipment, arranged by theme: blacksmith's workshop, wheelwright's workshop, old-fashioned cooking, woodcutting.

People are at your disposal to give you technical explanations on the functioning or use of the equipment, as well as to guide you through the exhibition.
