In this remote overseas region, we embark on a journey of history, culture and tourism. Through fifteen or so stops, we'll discover exceptional places and unusual encounters. Yohann Brichet takes us on foot, by plane, 4x4 or pirogue.
Through his eyes, we'll discover where Amerindians, Hmongs, Creoles, legionnaires, bushinengues, descendants of convicts or engineers at the space centre, garimpeiros in a gold mine or teachers from mainland France live. But it's also a real journey back in time: the first natives, colonisation, slavery, the gold rush, the creation of the penal colony, the European space base... are all elements that have marked the history of this region. The setting for this expedition is the immense equatorial forest, with its unique ecosystem, and the many rivers that criss-cross it. So many encounters, so many different facets, so many adventures to experience.
