" Open your ears for a musical stroll to baroque tunes. "
The Goldberg Variations of 1740 are the final part of the Clavier Übung published in Nuremberg by Balthasar Schmidt (1705-1749, publisher and pupil of J.S. BACH). They are an accomplished example of the "theme with variations" form. These variations, also known as the Aria with some variations for two-manual harpsichord, are undoubtedly one of BACH's most accomplished, developed and abundant compositions. Never before had the Leipzig Cantor achieved such mastery, intensity and virtuosity of expression!
