Michael Kenna, photographies du camp de Natzweiler

The exhibition "Michael Kenna, photographs of the Natzweiler concentration camp," presented at the Centre européen du résistant déporté, invites the public to discover poignant snapshots of the Natzweiler concentration camp. This personal project by the British photographer, born of deep emotion, is the fruit of 15 years' travels in Europe to capture the remains of Nazi camps in black and white. His artistic approach transforms these places of memory into a visual tribute, helping to preserve the memory of past horrors. Produced in partnership with the Musée de la Résistance nationale, the exhibition invites us to react and become involved in the work of remembrance by offering 41 photos, 17 of which were exceptionally printed by the artist, of the Natzweiler camp. The photographs are in dialogue with relics of the camp: drawings by a former inmate, objects from the daily life of the deportees and American photographs taken when the camp was liberated.
