First mentioned in 1434 as Newilr, Neuviller-la-Roche belonged to the rulers of Ban de la Roche before becoming part of the Vosges department in 1793. The village joined annexed Alsace and Germany in 1871 and stayed in the Bas-Rhin after 1918. It was named Neuviller-la-Roche in 1961.
